Lonnie Felix Griffin

Lonnie Felix Griffin, Jr., age 70, of Trenton, NC, passed away July 7, 2025, at his sister's home.

Lonnie was born on June 16, 1955, in Onslow County to the late Lonnie Felix Griffin and Mattie Pearl Griffin Jackson.

Having a love for tractor trailers, Lonnie worked for many years driving trucks and other large equipment. He worked for his father, the cotton gin, hauling cotton seed, and drove for others that would call on him when they had work available or needed help.

Trucks were not the only thing that Lonnie liked to drive. Often you could find him on beautiful days driving his Harley Davidson. His motorcycle was his favorite toy.

Lonnie was quite the outdoorsman. He loved to fish and hunt. Fishing on the river gave Lonnie joy and contentment. He enjoyed hunting deer, turkeys, and other wildlife. It could be said that Lonnie loved to hunt and eat anything that was a part of the deer family.

Amongst other things, Lonnie loved to cook. He could cook a pig like no other. He took pride in cooking and barbequing and inviting his friends and neighbors over to help him eat. He also looked forward to planting his garden each year. Sharing his fresh vegetables with friends and family made him happy.

Lonnie also loved to watch television. Some of his favorite shows were westerns.

He is preceded in death by his son, Brandon Sutton and parents, Lonnie Felix Griffin and Mattie Pearl Griffin Jackson.

Lonnie is survived by his son, Lonnie Felix Griffin III, sister, Sylvia Turner of Trenton, brothers, Randy West of Kinston, and Dennis J. West of VA., stepmother, Frances Jarman Griffin, stepsister, Sheila West Carter of Trenton, stepbrother, Johnathan Jackson of VA, grandchildren and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Griffin Family Cemetery at 1227 Old Comfort Hwy, Trenton, NC, with Pastor Stephen Evans officiating.
