Lynda Dail Obituary

Lynda Alice McGaha Dail, 90, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, who passed away peacefully surrounded by love, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

She was married in 1959 and shared a lifetime of love and partnership with her husband Cecil. Family was always at the center of her life, and she took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. She was a true family lady who loved getting her nails done, wearing pretty jewelry and always looking her best.

A dedicated nurse for over 40 years, she served compassionately at Caswell Center and Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her career, as she also taught CPR classes at nursing homes, always eager to help and educate those around her.

Lynda and Cecil were co-owners of Dacks and the VIP lounge where she bartended and loved to meet new people.

She loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Europe, traveling often with her husband, sister, and best friend. She treasured time spent at her mountain house and delighted in shopping, particularly when she found a great sale.

She enjoyed attending 902 Church and found comfort in her faith. Cooking and baking were among her favorite pastimes, especially during the holidays, when she lovingly prepared meals and baked goods for her family and the staff at Caswell Center. She was known for her generosity and kindness, often showering others with baked goods that were covered in coconut and decorated with candy.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Centerwell, Tony Gesell, Zack Bumgarner, Edith Hunt, and Carmen Fields and to the staff of Gentiva, Heather Henderson, Melinda Peeden, Yesenia Slores, and Pam Gwartney for their compassion and dedication.

Lynda leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and generosity that will live on in all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Doris McGaha and brother, Jimmy McGaha.

Lynda is survived by her husband of 66 years, Cecil Raye Dail, of the home, daughter, Kim Tyndall and husband Phil, special daughter, April Rouse, grandchildren, Tyler Tyndall (Lauren), and Brooke Wiggins (Ryan), great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Wyatt Tyndall and Harper and Eva Wiggins, brothers, Roger McGaha and Allen McGaha, sister, Myra Black, a very special  caregiver and friend whom she loved dearly, Lucy Mayes, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Steve Roman officiating. Visitation will follow immediately after the service. There will be a private family burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 902 Church at 2009 Cary Rd., Kinston, NC 28501.
