June 2, 1946 – November 30, 2024

Kinston-Lynwood Earl Croom was ushered into the presence of his Savior on November 30, 2024. He was born in Lenoir County to the late David Lee Croom and Margaret Carter Croom on June 2, 1946. In addition to his parents, Lynwood was preceded in death by brothers, Neal Croom, Rodolph Croom, and Randolph Croom; and sisters, Margie Harrell, Linda Sue Alawar, and Mary Alice Howard.

Lynwood worked for 50 years as the owner and operator of his own business, Lynwood Croom Roofing. He was a treasured member of Neuse Baptist Church where he previously served as head deacon. His family finds comfort in knowing Lynwood is at rest with the Lord.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Kincaid officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Lynwood is survived by his beloved wife, Ernestine “Tina” Tilghman Croom; daughter, Gina Cain of Kinston; son, Nick Taylor (Tonia) of Wilson; grandchildren, Nicholas Taylor (Kaitlyn), Gracie T. Sholar (Nathan), and Zachary Taylor; sister, Betty Jean Smith of Kinston; brothers, David Daniel Croom of Kinston, Dennis Croom of Kinston, Billy Croom (Doris) of Snow Hill, and Preston Croom (Carmen) of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Kinston.
