Lynwood Teachey, Sr.

November 15, 1945 – March 14, 2025

Kinston- Lynwood Paul Teachey, Sr., 79, peacefully received the call into eternity on Friday, March 14, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born in Lenoir County to the late Asa Judson Teachey and Ruth Elizabeth White Teachey on November 15, 1945. In addition to his parents, Lynwood was preceded in death by siblings, Doris Byrd, Velma Sandlin, Etheleen Dunham, Shirley Jenkins, Jean Monfette, Vivian Thompson, Asa Teachey, Jr., and Phil Teachey; and a special canine companion, Missy.

With a love of music, Lynwood enjoyed singing and listening to the country sounds of George Jones. He was a family man and put his wife and children second only to God. Lynwood was associated with Freedom Fellowship Church. His family finds comfort in knowing he is resting at the feet of Jesus.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston, with Pastor Steve Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation at the home.

Lynwood is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Dorothy Jean Wiggins Teachey; daughters, Tami Mills (John) and Rhonda Teachey (Daren); son, Paul Teachey (Amber); grandchildren, Cailey Gauthier (Connor), Tyler Mills (Caitlin), Jaylyn Mills, Madalyn Radford (Adam), and Riley Radford (Shelby); great-grandchildren, Peyton Mills, Mason Mills, and Atlas Gauthier; siblings, Patricia Lupton, Andrea Baron, and William Teachey; brothers-in-law, Robert Wiggins and George Wiggins; a very special niece, Ruthie Thompson, nephew, Wayne Wolf and many more special nieces and nephews and special friends, Larry and Barbara Outlaw. A special thank you to Madalyn Radford, Noah White and to Gentiva Hospice, Linsay Mosier, Crystal Pollard and Angie LaCross.
