Marie (Buchan) Waller

Marie Buchan Waller entered her heavenly home and joined her husband Bobby on December 12, 2018.  Marie was born in Lenoir County to the late Joseph and Mildred Buchan on April 14, 1941.  In addition to her parents, and husband Bobby, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John William Crews, her brother George Donald Buchan, brothers-in-law, L. G. Grady and Charles Albert Waller, and great nephew, Jimmy Lee Loftis, Jr.

Marie is survived by her best-friend and sister Lillie Grady of Seven Springs, sister-in-law Violet Buchan of Wichita Falls, Texas, brother-in-law, Freddy Waller and his family of Morehead City, step-daughter Cathie Swingle and family, all of Florida; nephew Cale Grady and his family of Albertson, nieces Donna Lance, Debbie Jones, and Sandra Buchan of Texas and their families.  Marie was loved by her many nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by everyone who crossed her path.

Marie graduated from Moss Hill School, Lenoir Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and Bowman Gray School Nursing to become a Nurse Anesthetist.  She enjoyed a long career at Lenoir Memorial Hospital and Wayne Memorial Hospital where she was a very passionate nurse and took great pride in her career and taking care of her patients.

Marie always enjoyed traveling, and upon their retirement, Marie and Bobby enjoyed traveling across the country in their motor home.  They spent many days with their “campground” friends in Florida and enjoyed the excitement of visiting a new town, seeing a new sight, or making a new friend.  There were always many pictures and stories to share.

In 2008, Marie was honored to stand by Bobby as they served as Potentate and First Lady of Sudan Shriners.  Marie was always giving of her time at the Lenoir County Shrine Club where she volunteered beside Bobby at Fish Fry’s and Children’s Christmas parties. One thing that was for sure, if you saw Bobby, Marie was close at hand, always working with him to improve the lives of others. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Daly’s Chapel Church, Hwy. 903 South, Seven Springs with visitation to follow in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Denise Wisener, Lauren Williams and Taffie Butler who provided special love and care to Marie and her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Marie’s Memory to Sudan Shriners, P.O. Box 12829, New Bern, NC  28561.
