Martha Courtney Obituary

Martha Lee Smith Courtney,84, of Kinston passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Minnie Alma Smith, and sons, Raymond Earnest and Paul S. Courtney.

Martha was a loving wife of 52 years, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and always kept her yard in top shape. She loved spending her time with family and friends. Martha never met a stranger, was loved by all, and will be truly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Calvin Courtney, of the home; daughters, Mary Dawson, Sharron Courtney, and Rhonda Courtney, all of Kinston; grandchildren, Christopher Earnest, Patrick Hardy, Zachary Courtney, and Ashleigh Courtney; one great-grandchild; sister, Rebecca Medders, and many other special family and friends in Kinston and Alabama.

Howard-Carter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. There will be no services at this time.
