Marvin Bryan Griffin, 77, peacefully passed away to his heavenly home on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at his home in Dover. He was born to the late Heber and Emma Griffin in Craven County.
Marvin was a soft spoken and gentle man, and a devoted member of Lane’s Chapel Church where he sang in the choir. He loved working on and restoring vehicles. His favorite was his green 1946 Chevy Truck.
He was an Army Veteran, mechanic, Co-owner of A-1 Auto and drove trucks for Waste Not. He graduated from Vanceboro Farm Life School and Lenoir Community School for Auto Mechanics.
Marvin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alberta “Tinsy” Griffin; parents, Heber and Emma Griffin; two sisters, Peggy Pridgen, Lucille White, and brother, Leslie Griffin Sr.
He is survived by his son, Brad Griffin and wife Kathryn, daughter, Tammy Lilly and husband Alton Jr, and son, Rodolph Croom, Jr. and girlfriend Cameron; grandchildren, Colin and Braden Griffin, Ryan Croom and wife Danielle, Marvin Brandon Lilly and wife Allison, Teri Jarman and husband Michael; great grandchildren, Bentley, Anna Beth, Griffin, Andy, Patience, Rhema, and Micah, and many other special family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Lane’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor David Harrington officiating.
