Grifton- Mary Bogey Batchelor passed away peacefully at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville on October 31, 2024. She was born in Pitt County to the late Roy Bogey and Fannie Mae Lamb on August 4, 1935. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Donald Batchelor; sisters, Hilda Mealy and Faye Wadsworth; and son, Fred Reno Batchelor.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston, as well as other times at the home.

Mary is survived by two sons, Thomas Scott Batchelor of Alexandria, VA and Richard Dean Batchelor (Judy) of Grifton; grandchildren, Fred Quentin Batchelor of Grifton and Crystal Michelle Batchelor (fiancé, Gil Jarman) of Grifton; great-grandchildren, Nyles Byrne and Richard Tyler Grant; siblings, Thomas Earl Spencer (Jane) of Wirtz, VA and Dot Butler of Jefferson, GA; and daughter-in-law, Merita Abbott of Hugo.
