Mary Pike Obituary

Mary Lee Pike, 90, of Kinston, NC, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to her family and community. For 44 years, Mary proudly owned and operated Mary Lee’s King Street Diner, a cherished gathering place and local favorite in Kinston. Through her work, she built lasting friendships and created a welcoming space where everyone felt at home.

Family was the center of Mary’s life. She deeply loved her family and treasured being surrounded by their photos and memories. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and her home was known for its festive spirit. Mary kept her Christmas decorations up year-round and delighted in sharing them at the diner as well.

Mary found great joy in cooking for her family and caring for others. She had a generous heart and was known for her kindness, always willing to help anyone in need. Her diner became a place where many members of the local law enforcement community gathered, and she formed close friendships with those she served during the night shift.

Loyalty was one of Mary’s greatest qualities. She remained devoted to those who were loyal to her, especially longtime employees (Mike) and friends who stood by her through the years. She appreciated the support she received and returned it with warmth and gratitude.

Mary Lee will be remembered for her big heart, her dedication to her family and community, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and hospitality. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Neuse Robert Pike and Eliza Lee Pike, sisters; Margaret (Sissy) Hardison and Hazel (Pug) Snyder.

Mary is survived by her sons, Jerry Boyette and wife Briana of Pink Hill and Mike Boyette and wife Wendy of Snow Hill, grandchildren; Brittany Boyette (Jerry Jordan) of Greenville, Jeremy Boyette (Mandie Szabo) of Pink Hill, Maverick, Sophia, and Scarlett Boyette of Pink Hill, Michael Boyette, Jr. (Ciera) of Pink Hill and Kayla Heath (Michael) of Sandy Bottom, great-grandchildren; Saphira Trumbo, Mason Jordan, Paizley Bailey, and Tanner Heath, family friend and mother of Michael and Kayla, Ginger Boyette and very special friend and longtime caregiver, Pearlie Hines.
