Mildred L. (Koonce) Cunningham

Mildred L. Koonce Cunningham, 92, of Kinston, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Cunningham; sister, Mary Elizabeth Leary, and nephew, Ellis Lee Leary.

She retired in 1989 from Commercial Credit after over 35 years of service. Mildred was an avid bowler and held several high score titles in the women’s tournaments. She was a proud supporter of the Miss Neuse Scholarship Pageant. In her retirement, she cared for many family members and enjoyed traveling to bingo games with her friends.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Kaye Morris and husband, Mike, of Kinston and Linda Nimmo and husband, Pete, of Kinston; grandsons, Michael Morris, Wes Nimmo, Danny Morgan, and Drew Sellitto, and many other close family and friends.

Funeral service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with visitation to follow. A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Pastor Allen Ham will officiate.
