Morrison Rivenbark passed away peacefully at home early Thursday morning, August 21, 2025. He was born in Burgaw, N.C. (Pender County) on October 10, 1937, to the late Scornwall Lester and Eva Wells Rivenbark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Daniel James Robinson, five brothers, and six sisters.
Morris is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Julia R. Rivenbark, children; Steven Vance Rivenbark (Anne), Wendy Rivenbark Robinson (Jay), and Morrison Stacey Rivenbark, three grandchildren; Stephanie Rivenbark Miller (Joe), Sabrina Rivenbark Cooper (Josh) and Brittany Rose Robinson, three great grandsons; David Keckley, Heath Miller, and Levi Miller, and two step great-grandchildren; Caley Sebrell and Michael Sebrell; one brother; Edgar Thomas Rivenbark, special niece, Amy Teachey Norris and her family, along with many other special nieces and nephews.
Morris was a loving and gentle husband, a quiet, gentle and loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a great mentor to everyone that had ever worked with him or beside him.
Morris had a strong and enduring work ethic. His job at Herring and Rivenbark, Inc., that lasted for nearly 60 years, was not just his livelihood, it was how he enjoyed life. He loved to work at his job, in his yard, around the house, and anywhere anyone needed him to work. Work was his favorite word and his favorite pastime.
Morris loved all his roles in life. Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, employee, friend, and most of all being a neighbor to everyone.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Southwood Memorial Christian Church at 1027 Hwy. 58 South, Kinston, N.C. 28501, with Pastor Jim Dawson and Pastor Hank Jarman officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Riverview Memorial Park at 9350 US 117, Willard, N.C. 28478.
