Nannie Elizabeth “Gnell” Harper, 89, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Durwood and Annie Lee Robinson and the love of her life, husband, Leslie Harper.

Gnell was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a long-time member of Spilman Baptist Church and loved to cook and shop. She enjoyed spending her time with family and discussing various topics with her beloved “Coffee Group”. She was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed by many.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Harper Chandler and husband, Alex; grandchildren, Xan and Jake Chandler and wife, Caity; great-grandchildren, Jamie and Harper Chandler; sister, Sara Gray and husband, David; brother, JD Robinson and wife, Barbara, and many other special family and friends. The family would like to recognize the special love and kindness she received from her dear niece, Tammy Gray. The family would also like to thank the staff at Herritage Elite for their care and compassion during her stay there.

A private service will be held for Mrs. Harper with burial following at Pinelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Children’s Homes of NC, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360
