Kinston- Patricia Ann Jarman Whitley entered into rest on November 7, 2024. She was born in Evans County, Georgia to the late Elwood Franklin Jarman, Sr. and Charlotte Ann Langston on July 16, 1955. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Jarman.

Pat’s life revolved around her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and Nana. From raising her children to making memories with her grandchildren, time spent with family was never wasted. Her most prized and treasured title was Nana. She often joked that her license plate should read “Nana’s Taxi”.

Pat’s first priority was to care for her family. She postponed her own career pursuits until her children were older. After attending school for cosmetology, Pat began her work as a hair stylist at Fantastic Sams in Kinston. She was skilled at her job and was known for her precious, personable personality. Her clients will always remember her for the wonderful conversations held and the many times they left the salon with a renewed sense of self-confidence.

A longtime member of Webb Chapel in Sandy Bottom, Pat was faithful and active in her church. Over the years, Pat served in several capacities ranging from Sunday School teacher to Bible Study coordinator, Vacation Bible School director, and more. Pat’s family finds confidence in knowing she is resting in the arms of her Savior.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The family will greet friends following the service. A service of committal will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

Pat is survived by her husband of 45 years, Raeford Lane Whitley, Jr.; daughters, Lisa Diane Creel (Bobby) and Leslie Danielle Bird (Doug); son, Raeford “Rae” Whitley, III (Kelli); grandchildren, Dylan Davis, Melanie Davis, Lauren Davis, Kylie Taylor, Logan Whitley, and Landon Whitley; brother, Elwood Jarman, Jr.; father-in-law, Raeford Lane Whitley, Sr.; sister-in-law, Gena Scherber; and sister-in-heart, Helen Hooker.

Arrangements entrusted to Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Kinston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pat’s memory may be made to 3HC’s Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
