Peggy Joyce Midyette Kennedy, 86, of Kinston, passed away of Tuesday, February 10, 2026. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose greatest joy came from caring for her loved ones and spending time surrounded by family.
After more than 30 years of dedicated service in the dietary department at Caswell Center, she retired with pride in her work and the many relationships she built over the years. Known for her strong work ethic and generous heart, she carried that same dedication into every part of her life.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved working in her yard and tending to her flowers, reading, and cooking meals for her family-especially her well-loved fried chicken. Many peaceful afternoons were spent sitting on the porch in her rocking chair, watching the world go by. She enjoyed visiting thrift stores and browsing yard sales and creating a warm welcoming home.
Above all, she treasured time with her family and adored her grandchildren beyond measure. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. She will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, and the deep love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Daly Kennedy, mother, Hattie Midyette, son, Daly Kennedy, Jr., sister, Sybil Wilcox, and brother, Bruce Midyette.
