Phyllis Swinson Obituary

Phyllis Ann Swinson, 60, of Kinston, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 25th, 2024, after a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She devoted 20-plus years to Caswell Center therapy and the clients and co-workers that she loved dearly. She was a part of numerous music ministries. She was a skilled pianist and had a powerful voice. Phyllis was a beacon of light to the darkness. She offered love and hope to the brokenhearted. Wherever she went, music, laughter, and joy followed. Phyllis loved to travel and would often surprise her family with photos of her latest spontaneous adventure. She did not know a stranger and treated everyone she met with importance. She was at her happiest spending time or talking about her children, grandchildren, and “great-babies”. She will be truly missed by her family, friends, and the countless lives that she touched during her time with us.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her mother, Lavella Swinson.
She is survived by her husband, Neal Moore; her children Scott (Beth) Tripp, Mary (Kalyn) Tripp, and Jeremy (Melissa) Tripp; bonus child Jada Moore; her grandchildren Geoffrey Mason, Mason Harper, Andrew Mason, Gabby Garza, Gavin Tripp, Beck Garza, Madeline Tripp, Jack Tripp; her “Great-babies” Isaac Levi Mason, Sarah Drew Mason; her father Harold Swinson; her siblings Sheila (Chris) Dunn, Randy (Stephanie) Swinson, Amy (Jovanni) Villagra, Andrea Swinson; her many nieces and nephews to which she was lovingly known as “Aunt Alice”.
Please join us on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, at 1 pm to celebrate the life of our “Sunflower”. The dress will be comfortable and colorful and scheduled to take place outdoors. It will be held at the home of her sister, Amy, 3237 NC-55, Kinston, NC 28501. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to share a song or memory with someone you love.
