Randall “Randy” Eugene Smith passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a life filled with simple joys and meaningful connections.

After patiently waiting, Randy married the love of his life, Kathy. They built a life together filled with love, joy, strength, and happiness.

For many years, Randy worked as a truck driver, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication. He took great pride in providing for those he loved and was known for his dependable nature and kind heart.

Above all else, Randy dearly loved his daughter and sons. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Randy enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. He loved being outdoors, whether walking through the yard, enjoying nature, or simply spending time outside. A fan of basketball, he found enjoyment in both watching and playing the game. Randy was a dedicated and loyal UNC Carolina Tarheel fan.  He also loved gathering with family and friends, especially when sharing a home-cooked meal. Cooking for loved ones brought him great happiness and was one of the many ways he showed his care for others.

Randy will be remembered for his warm spirit, love of family, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Billy Smith and Hilda Grace Barnett Smith and son Kristopher Carlyle.

Randy is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Kandice Puckett (Brandon) of Kinston; sons, Anthony Carlyle of Kinston and Jason Smith of Wilmington; grandchildren, Kristony Puckett, Kaden Puckett, Payzlei Puckett, Laken Puckett, Kourtney Smith, Kaleb Carlyle, Kent Carlyle, Kenli Smith, Everli Smith, Kayden Smith, and Talon Smith, great-grandchildren, Zayden Carmichael, Kinsley Howard and Colton Howard, sister, Terry Allison of Kinston; brother, Tony Smith of Kinston; and special friends, Brandon Quinn and Paul Puckett.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 1:00 pm. at Westview Cemetery with Pastor Michael Hamm officiating.
