Richard Burkett Obituary

Richard Martin Burkett, 75, of Kinston passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 peacefully at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Laura Collier Burkett; wife, Carol H. Burkett; sisters Elizabeth Reynolds, Dorothy Grai, Malissa Davis, Nell McGee, Gail Reynolds and brother Charles Burkett.

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed traveling and working with his hands constructing projects. He was loved by everyone he met and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Burkett and husband, Paul McPherson; son, Dr. Greg Burkett and wife, Missy; grandchildren, Jennifer Sharp and Sara McPherson; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Brooklyn, Taylor and Charlie Sharp; brothers Dallas Burkette, David Burkette and sister Carol B Cahoon.

A private service will be held in Richard’s memory. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lenoir County SPCA.
