November 14, 1924 ~ January 4, 2025 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Robert Glover Obituary

Lt. Colonel Robert Milton “Bob” Glover passed away at the NC State VA Home in Kinston, NC where he recently celebrated his 100th birthday. Born 1924 and deceased January 4, 2025.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Milton Glover, mother Rosa Edna Glover and brother, William Leon Glover. He is survived by his brother, Steve Glover and his sister, Joyce Glover Bottoms of Rocky Mount, NC along with his devoted partner of 19 years Dolores Stritmater in New Bern, NC plus stepchildren, Sherry Harper and Bill Harper both in N. Myrtle Beach, SC.

Bob served honorably in the US Army as well as the US Air Force during WWII and the Korean War then retired in the reserves.

He was a graduate of ECTC in Greenville, NC with a bachelor degree and a masters degree in education in 1950.  While at ECTC he was a 3 letter athlete and was a 155 lb. starting lineman on the football team. Because of his size and tenacity he earned his nickname of “Truck”.

 

After his military service Bob taught school and was later employed by telephone companies in both NC and Florida from which he retired.

Bob was a compassionate lover of animals, especially dogs and an avid golfer. He was a sports fan and loved watching all sports.

The family is grateful to the NC State VA Home & Pruitt Hospice staffs for their care and devotion.

Graveside service will take place at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro, NC on Thursday January 9, 2025, at 12:00pm with Allan Ham officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lt. Colonel Robert Milton “Bob” Glover’s name to “Misplaced Mutts” to help rescue lost and misplaced dogs. You can donate through Facebook or mail checks to PO Box 58, Beaufort, NC, 28516.
