Rodney Earl Cole, 65, of Kinston, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026. He was a man whose life was deeply rooted in family, friendship, and simple joys.
Family meant everything to Rodney. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, always making time to be present and create lasting memories. Whether gathered at home or out enjoying the day, his greatest happiness came from being surrounded by family.
Rodney was an outdoorsman at heart. He found peace and enjoyment in fishing and spending time by the river, often alongside family and friends. He also loved four-wheeling and embraced every opportunity for adventure and fresh air.
He had a passion for cooking on the grill, bringing people together with good food and laughter. Rodney never met a stranger-he truly loved meeting new people and forming lasting friendships. His warm personality and welcoming spirit made him the kind of person others were naturally drawn to.
Known as the life of the party, Rodney had a way of lighting up any room. He loved to have fun and made sure those around him did too. His laughter, energy, and genuine kindness will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rodney lived by a simple but powerful belief: “He wanted to love and be loved.” That love is the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of his family and friends.
He will be missed but not forgotten.
Rodney is preceded in death by grandson, Jayce Odom and parents, John and Wilby Cole.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Connie Cole; daughter, Ashley Cole Odom and husband, Michael of Ayden; grandchild, Haidyn Odom; sister, Carolyn Cole Antwine and husband Lyn of Kinston, and special friend/brother, Allen Farmer of Kinston.
