Rose Taylor Obituary

On October 10, 2024 Rose Wilcox Taylor (67) passed from her earthly home and won the ultimate victory when she entered Heaven's gates and gained complete healing. Rose was born on July 23, 1957 to Frederick and Betty Wilcox.

To know Rose was to love her, she had a heart of gold, never complained and could often be heard saying “it’s going to be alright” with a smile on her face.  For 6 years she fought multiple types of cancer and she handled each one like a true champion with grace and dignity.

Rose attended Bethel Christian Academy and was part of the graduating class of 1975. In 1980 she gained her greatest title when she became a mother to her pride and joy Jason Taylor. In the early 2000’s Rose  went back to school and gained her Associate’s degree in human resources. Until her diagnosis in 2018 she was employed at Caswell Center where she spent many hours helping and caring for others, making long lasting friendships, and making others smile by always cutting up. She was a lifelong member of Shady Grove Church where she was often found serving God  by serving others.

Rose is survived by: her mother Betty Wilcox, her son Jason Taylor, sister Sherry (Jerry), brother-in-law Randy Taylor (Phyllis); nieces Amanda Hoover, Dana Taylor, and Annette Hewitt, nephew Scott Taylor, great nieces Kinley Hoover, Maria Centento-Soto, Caroline Mumford, great nephew Ethan Hoover and the late Brandon Mumford. Rose also leaves behind several other loving family members who she loved with all her heart.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 4:00pm at Shady Grove Church with visitation immediately following the service. Officiants for the service will be Pastor Greg Dickerson and Pastor Jerry Pike. Visitation will be held other times at the home of Betty Wilcox at 424 Wilcox Road, Kinston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shady Grove Church. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Pruitt Hospice Care, UNC Oncology, and Howard and Carter Funeral home for all they have done to help make Rose’s transition from this world a little easier.
