Russell Marvin Bartholomew

Russell Marvin Bartholomew, 89, of Kinston, NC, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at his home.

Russell was retired after 35 years of Federal Service at the Social Security Administration. He also served 2 years in the military.

He was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church. He was also a graduate of Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC. He was a loving husband, father and PaPa. He was a quiet speaking man who didn’t talk a lot, but what he had to say was worth listening to.

His real passion was fishing and he did it until he was no longer physically able to.

He was born March 1, 1935 to the late Russell May Bartholomew and Mary Heustess of Rocky Mount, NC. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Webb of Clark, NJ, former wife Marie Barnes of Wilson, NC, grandson Casey King of Swansboro, NC and great-granddaughter Finley Elizabeth Pardue of Apex, NC.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sue Albritton Bartholomew of the home, his daughter Susan B. Turner (Leroy) of Wilson, NC, his son Brian Louis Bartholomew (Maria) of Winterville, NC, step-children, Connie B. Stewart (Rob) of Apex, NC, Keith Butner (Kym) of Fuquay Varina, NC and Monica B. King (James “Jay”) of La Grange, NC, grandchildren Corey Ellison of Wilson, NC, Lina Bartholomew of Greenville, NC, Braxton Bartholomew of Winterville, NC, Lauren B. Pardue (Jeremy) of Apex, NC, Jonathan Butner (Ryan) of Raleigh, NC, Josh Andrews (Kaitlin) of Harrisburg, NC, Kayla G. Melvin (Justin) of La Grange, NC, Trent King of La Grange, NC, Jamie Clark (Jeremy) of Greenville, NC and Dr. Courtney Stewart of Myrtle Beach, SC., great-grandchildren Alice, Viviana and Ryker Butner of Raleigh, NC, Oliver and Emilia Pardue of Apex, NC, and Shane and Rylie Melvin of La Grange, NC. He also has several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside service to be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 11 at Westview Cemetery, Kinston, NC. Reverend Dennis Peay will be officiating.
