Sallie Lou (Smith) Hill

Sallie Lou Smith Hill, 78, of Kinston, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Smith and Martha Langston Smith, and brother, James Smith, Jr. and wife, Gwen; brother-in-law William Roger Moore

Sallie was a loving wife and a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards and attended Southwood Christian Church. She had a great love for her family, especially “her boys”. She loved taking care of others and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Kermit Hill, Sr., of the home; sons, James Craig Carlyle and wife, Denise, of La Grange, William Randall Carlyle, Sr. and wife, Tonya, of Kinston, and Lynn Hill and wife, Christi, of Kinston; six grandchildren; Jennifer Bishop ( Michael ), Randy Carlyle, Jr., Joshua Carlyle, Courtney Carlyle, Taylor Sanderson, Kevin Sanderson, and seven great-grandchildren, sister; Judy Ann Moore, of Kinston; special family friend; Ray Dail, canine companion, Jasmine and special “grand-dog”, Decker, and many other close family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial following the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
