Sherry Lynn Harper passed peacefully in her sleep Thursday morning February 20, 2025, at the age of 64.  Sherry had been a resident at Skill Creations of Kinston, NC for several years.  Sherry was born in Kinston on September 26, 1960.  She graduated from Savannah Junior High School on June 5, 1981.

Sherry’s hobbies were her collection of red pocketbooks and puzzles, and Sherry loved to play basketball. Whenever you saw Sherry, she was always happy, talking, and smiling. 

Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Claudia Harper, in 2001 and mother, Effie Ray Wiley Harper, in 2017. Sherry’s mother and father cared for her at home for over 50 years until Sherry was placed in Skill Creations.

Sherry is survived by cousins: Betty Sanderson (Guardian), Glen Sanderson, Lisa Hill Delguercio, Darrell Scott Hill, Greg Hill, Annie Kay Harper Grady, Betty Lou Rouse, Judy Howard, Brenda Jarman, Jean Rikard, Diana Harper, and Nanette Harper.

Her family wishes to thank Glenn Simmons and all of his caring staff at Skilled Creations (both present and past) who have cared for Sherry since

2013.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet friends for visitation from 10:30-11:00 a.m. before the service. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.
