Shirley Mae (Koonce) Rouse

Shirley Mae Koonce Rouse, 82, passed away at the home of her sister and brother-in-law in Dover, NC on March 18, 2025.  She was predeceased by her husband of sixty-two years, John Henry Rouse and parents, Terry Koonce and Ella Mae Gladson Koonce.

Shirley, is survived by her sisters, Vivian Moore of Kinston and Pinky Durham of Dover; brother, Terry Koonce of Kinston; a special niece, Carol and nephew, Dempsey who cared for her and many other special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Westview Cemetery, Kinston, NC with Pastor Ron Purifoy officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Kinston.
