Shirley Davis Poer

Shirley Davis Poer, 75, of Kinston passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, March 8, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Poer, and her parents Levi Davis and Ethel Jarman Davis.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Shirley loved with her whole heart.  She would do anything for anyone, even if it meant that she'd do without.  Her six granddaughters were the light of her life.  She would go to the ends of the earth for them, and they knew it.  She was looking forward to spoiling her great-grandson just as she had those six girls. She worked at King's Restaurant for 25 years, up until the end because she loved being around people.  Shirley also loved working in her yard and took great pride in the way it looked.

She is survived by her daughter Wendy Dillon and husband Keith, daughter Angel Dail, son Rob Dail, daughter in law Candice Dail, grandchildren Leanna Benson and husband Andy, Heather Dillon, Rebecca Mejia and husband Kevin, Natalie Dail, Chloe Dail, Katie Dillon, great-grandson Enzo Mejia, sisters Peggy Cauley, Norma Pate, Trisha Eubank and husband Frankie, Audrey White and husband Bobby, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 17th, 2024, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Funeral Service beginning at 3:00pm. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in her honor/memory to St Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, and Sudan Shriners Children's Hospital Fund, PO Drawer 12829, New Bern, NC 28561, which were two of her favorite charities.
