Stephen "Sparky" Doyle Whitley

Stephen “Sparky” Doyle Whitley, 42, of Kinston, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at his home.

Stephen was a plumbing serviceman for 20 years, did construction with multiple companies, and did lineman work with a local company. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, playing pool, and hanging out with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie T. Whitley; son, Cody Matthew Whitley; daughter, Kimberly Cobb and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Lacey Brooke Johnson, Sean Brantley Johnson, and Charlie Elizabeth Cobb, all of Kinston; father, William “Bill” Whitley of Kinston; mother, Dianne E. Mingin and husband, Bill, of West Ends, NC; brothers, Thomas Mingin and wife, Holly of South Carolina and Tyler Whitley and wife, Lindsey, of Kinston; very special sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Jay Groff of the home; special nephews, Alex and Andrew Groff of the home, and many other special family and friends.

A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1327 Institute Road, Kinston, North Carolina 28504.
