Susan Smith Sandh, of Orlando, Florida, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Born in Kinston, North Carolina, to Dr. Grover and Christine Smith, Susan lived a life full of love and laughter and a commitment to God.
Susan was full of life and energy, the kind of person who lit up every room she entered. Known for her vibrant spirit and her ability to make everyone feel special, she will be remembered most for the love and joy she brought to those around her. Susan’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved with all her heart. She had a gift for making every moment brighter—whether through her quick laugh, her love of music, or her famous and unforgettable rendition of “Happy Birthday,” which she delighted in singing to friends and family alike. She will also always be remembered for her love of the song “We Are Family,” (played at any and all family occasions; happy or sad) because she wanted everyone around her to feel embraced, valued, truly loved, and never missed an opportunity to say, “I love my family!”
Above all, Susan cherished her love of God and her faithful walk with Christ. Her faith guided her life, giving her strength, joy, and a spirit of compassion to everyone she knew.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Sandh, and her loyal pup, Sophie. She also leaves behind her sisters, Judy Couri (George) and Joan McNamara; her nieces and nephews, Christine Allison (Luke), Georgia Couri, Michael Couri, Christopher Couri, Charlie McNamara (Sarah), Muriel Collins (Ryan), and Rory McNamara, Effy Zhang. Susan also adored her step-children and their families; Lori Bigboy (Tom), and children Timothy, Jeremiah, Naomi, Abby, Zeke, and Livi; Steven Sandh (Tricia) and children Otto, Silas, and Edy; Brett Sandh (Keilah) and their children Oaklee and Paisley.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Grover W. Smith and Christine Smith; her brother, Dr. Mike Smith; her brother-in-law Dr. Charles McNamara; and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gray Sr.
A celebration of life will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston, North Carolina at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, followed by a graveside service at Pinelawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers organization, a charity that Susan held closely to her heart.
