Tammy Mercer May, 60, of Trenton, NC, passed away on February 17, 2025, at Carolina East Medical Center. In the weeks leading up to her passing, her family spent precious time with her, offering love and comfort.

Tammy was a woman of unwavering faith, reflecting God’s love through her service and witness to others. She was an active member of Chinquapin Chapel Church, where she dedicated her time to the children's ministry, choir, Go Group (youth group), and Jolly Saints (senior adults). She was also an active member of Phillips Crossroads Fire Department, always eager to serve her community.

She found joy in music and singing and cherished every moment spent with her family. A lifelong resident of Jones County, she dedicated her life to her community through her work and her kindness.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Donnie May; her beloved mother, Dorothy Stilley Mercer; her daughter, Kristie May King, and husband Robert King; and her precious grandson, Kristopher King. She is also survived by her sister, Angie Broome, along with many other special family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father, George Mercer; her maternal grandparents, Chris and Sarah Stilley; and her paternal grandparents, Fred and Eva Mercer.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, at 11:00 AM at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston, NC, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Westview Cemetery in Kinston.

Her life was a testament to Proverbs 3:5-6:
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."

Tammy’s legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
