Teresa (Terry) Dunn Wetherington, 65, passed away peacefully at home on March 17,
2024, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie Dunn
Fillion and Marvin Evans Dunn Sr.; her father-in-law, Daniel Clifton Wetherington, Sr.;
and stepbrother, Mark Fillion.
Terry was a loving mother, wife, and wonderful grandmother. She had many jobs over
her lifetime including being in the North Carolina Army National Guard, a paralegal, a
transcriptionist, and a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed spending time with her family,
spending time on the water relaxing or fishing all day long. She enjoyed sewing and
crocheting and loved giving her family and loved ones the items she had made. Most of
all, she loved spending time with her only granddaughter, Aubree. She also enjoyed
playing and loving on her beloved dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Clifton Wetherington Jr. of Newport; her children
Daniel Clifton Wetherington III, and girlfriend Julie, of California; Derek Tyler
Wetherington, and fiancée, Ashley of Garner; Tatum Jo Wetherington, of Newport,
Cheyenne Nichole Wetherington of Newport, Zachary Michael Wetherington of Kinston,
and Samantha Ashley Wetherington of Kinston. Her sister, Dr. Deborah Dunn Grimes,
and husband, David of Emerald Isle; Her brother Marvin Evans Dunn Jr. of Kinston;
Stepsisters, Lori Harrell and Delores Summerlin of Kinston; Stepbrothers, Jeffery
Summerlin of Mount Olive, and Eddie Summerlin, of Kinston; and Brian Fillion of
Virginia; her brothers-in-law, Mickey Wetherington of Cove City; Stuart Wetherington,
and wife, Crystal of Dover; her stepmother, Carolyn Dunn of Kinston; her mother-in-law,
Evelyn Wetherington, and one very special grandchild, Aubree Nichole Wetherington of
Newport. Also, nephews, Daniel Grimes, and wife, Elizabeth of Raleigh; Jordan Grimes,
and wife Lauren, of Charlotte; Nicholas Dunn, of Greenville; Payton Wetherington of
Cove City; and nieces, Brandi Summerlin, and Breanna Summerlin of Kinston; Lacey
Fillion Rose, and husband, Anthony of Virginia; and Logan Hill Torres, and husband,
Ramon of Faison; Hollyann Wetherington, of Dover and many great nieces and nephews.
The Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Howard[1]Carter Funeral Home, 1608 W. Vernon Ave, Kinston, NC, 28504. Visitation will be held
following the memorial service. Burial will be at a later date.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the 3HC-Home Health and Hospice
