Thelma Joy Pearson

Thelma Joy Hall Pearson, age 72, of Kinston, NC passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at UNC Lenoir Hospital.  She was born December 5, 1951, the youngest child of Kenneth and Nannie Loyd Hall of the Airy Grove Church community in Lenoir County, NC.

Joy’s life was filled with office work, lots of family and she enjoyed being a member of the Hugo community.  She graduated from Contentnea High School, attended Lenoir Community College and was employed by several companies in the Kinston area in the clerical and office management field.  She was a member of Airy Grove Christian Church.

Joy is predeceased by her son, Allen Pearson; parents, Kenneth and Nannie Loyd Hall; sister, Faye “Betsy” Smith and the father of her children, Rickie Pearson.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Kelly Ransom and husband, Travis; granddaughter,

Allena Ransom; brothers, J. K. Hall and wife Rebecca and Charlie Hall and wife, Lora

Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
