Thomas Hill Obituary

Thomas Malcolm Hill Sr. 85, passed away on Thursday September 14, 2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC. He was born on June 18, 1938 in Greensboro, NC to Thomas Jefferson Hill and Maude Cole Hill.

Mr. Hill joined the US Army when he was 19 years old and served two years. After getting out of the Army, he later went to work for Lenoir Auto Parts where he was employed until 1970. In 1970, he opened Thomas Service Center located at 210 N. McLean Street and later moved to 211 S. Herritage Street. Mr. Hill retired in 2007. During this time, he attended and graduated from Lenoir Community College. Thomas had been a beacon in the automotive repair industry for almost 40 years with customers coming from all over the United States to have their vehicles fixed by Mr. Hill. In announcing this retirement to his customers and friends, he quoted the great Lou Gehrig “Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”

Thomas will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Hill is survived by:

Surviving Siblings: Barbara Stell, Sara Scearce, Roger Hill, and Larry Hill.

Children: Kimberly Hill Byrd and her husband Rick Byrd, Thomas Malcolm Hill Jr. “Mike” and his wife Kandis Hill, Glenn Anthony Hill and his wife Yinfei Hill, and Christopher Bryan Hill and his wife Rita Hill.

Grandchildren: Brandon Hill, Kelsey Hill Wilkes, Matthew Byrd, Sarah-Grace Hill, Garrett Hill, Caroline Hill, Catherine Hill, Abigail Hill and Thomas William Hill.

Great Grandchildren: Maverick and Radien Wilkes.

Graveside services will be held at Pinelawn Cemetery in Kinston on Thursday September 21, 2023 at 11am near the Hill Farm Rd entrance.  Please make donations to the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in lieu of flowers.
