Thomas Whitford White, 55, of Kinston, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at UNC Health Lenoir. Thomas is preceded in death by his father, Reid Whitford White, Jr.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas Reid White of Dover and Jonathan Fletcher White of Kinston; mother, Amelia “Bea” White of Kinston; brother, William Fletcher White of Kinston; and several aunts and uncles.
We celebrate the life of a man who lived on his own terms, embraced every moment, and never let life’s challenges define him. A true outdoorsman at heart, he found his greatest joys surrounded by nature, whether he was grilling for family and friends, hunting in the woods, or casting a line while fishing.
He was a proud member of the Daugherty’s Chapel Hunting Club and was known by those who loved him as a hunter of all things. The outdoors was not just a pastime-it was where he felt most at home.
From birth, he faced health challenges that would have discouraged many, but he met every obstacle with strength, determination, and resilience. He was a fighter in every sense of the word, refusing to let adversity keep him from living a full and meaningful life.
More than anything, he treasured time spent with his family. His two sons were among his greatest blessings, and he enjoyed every opportunity to be with them and the rest of his loved ones. Whether sharing stories, enjoying a meal, or simply being together, family was at the center of his life.
Those who knew him will remember his independent spirit and his ability to live life exactly the way he wanted-without worry, regret, or hesitation. He embraced each day with courage and authenticity, leaving behind memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on through his sons, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May we find comfort in remembering a life well-lived, a heart that never gave up, and a man who truly marched to the beat of his own drum.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston.
