Tony, known affectionately by many as “Fred”, was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He graduated from South Lenoir High School in 1981 and went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and East Carolina University. He earned his associate’s degree in engineering from Lenoir Community College in 1985.
He was a lifelong faithful member of Armenia Christian Church, where he served as Chairman of the Board. A highlight of his membership was his service in the choir where his passion and skill for music were on display and a privilege for all who heard him sing.
Tony’s love for art started at a young age with the discovery of his first comic book. He shared his passion for art with his children, encouraging them to find their own creative voices. His artistic legacy lives on in his creations and in the lives he touched. He was the epitome of hard work and dedication. He held many significant jobs throughout his life but was currently employed as a civil engineer for the City of New Bern, where he combined his love for art and engineering for the last 10 years. He spoke often of the love he had for his boss and best friend, Jordan Hughes.
Tony lived his life dedicated to service. His compassion for those he held dear stood unwavering. His family was his pride and joy, and of all the titles he held, that of “Grampa” was his most precious. His grandbabies were his whole world.
The legacy he leaves behind is one full of advice, jokes, storytelling, and a sense of humor that cannot be rivaled. His love, laughter, and memories will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Armenia Christian Church with Pastor John Brick and Pastor Penny Ziemer officiating. Visitation to follow the service.
