Vernon L. Cauley, 77 of Kinston, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. He was preceded in death by his parents, George William and Nancy Mitchell Cauley, brother, Charles William “Billy” Cauley, sister, Janie Cauley Southerland, and brother-in-law, Carlton Reid Beaman, Sr.
Vernon was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He recently retired from a 50-year career he loved as an Enrolled Agent Accountant. Vernon proudly served his country in the US Army from 1962 to 1965. He was a sweet, kind and loving person. He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. Vernon attended Tanglewood Church where he served as member of The Pastor’s Council, Usher, Finance Committee and a Trustee.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Dawson Cauley of 55 years; sisters, Linda C. Beaman of Tarboro, Sylvia C. Carr, brother-in-law, Bill Carr of Kinston, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held at Tanglewood Church on Thursday, February 24th at 6:30 PM. Visitation will be held following the service and other times at 2196 Thatcher Drive, Kinston. Burial will take place on Friday, February 25th at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, NC at 11:00 AM. Reverend Allen Stocks will officiate the services. Flowers and/or memorial contributions made in Vernon’s name to Tanglewood Church at 2103 Rouse Road, Kinston are equally welcome.
