Wade Tucker, 89 years old, passed away Thursday April 17th, surrounded by his loving family. Wade was born on October 23rd, 1935, in Winterville. Wade married Virginia Dail, in 1956. After high school, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Fort Worth Texas, where they welcomed their first child, Debi. After a few years, they returned to North Carolina, settled in Ayden and had two sons, Dennis and Scott.
Wade was in the service industry for many years and was most fondly remembered as “the bread man”. He began his career working at Sun Beam Bakery and lastly retired from Lance Company as a route manager.
Wade did not know a stranger, and always had an encouraging word accompanied with a generous smile. He was well known and loved in the community and was always willing to help those in need. All that had the honor of knowing Wade knew that he was slow to anger, down to earth, and a friend to all. He loved his family tremendously and enjoyed all the time he was able to spend with them.
After Virginia’s passing in 1993, Wade married Peggy Hill of Kinston where they were members of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church and were happily married until her passing in 2019. Preceding Wade in death was his twin brother, Wayne Tucker, and his parents, Herman (Bill) Tucker, Emily Whitehurst Tucker, and stepmother Francis Earl Tucker.
Wade is survived by his siblings David Tucker (Libby Tucker) of Lenoir, Marjorie Smith (Terry Smith) of Tampa, Florida, and Clayton Tucker (Gilda Tucker) of Wilson, his children, Debi Jackson (Mike Jackson) of Charlotte, Dennis Tucker of the home, Scott Tucker (Cindy Tucker) of Ayden, and stepdaughter Lisa Lang (Eddie Lang) of Kinston. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Snow Hill Memory Care for taking the best care of Wade in his final days. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a contribution in Wade’s memory, please donate to Bethel Free Will Church in Kinston.
