Walter "Jack" Pate, 93, of Kinston, passed away Sunday April 21, 2024 at his home. Jack was born June 2, 1930. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star, as well as the Purple Heart. After Korea, Jack married his sweetheart, Virginia "Jink" Pate, and stayed that way until his death did them part, 70 years. He was a dedicated father of two children, Diane Pate Johnson and Randy Allen Pate. He also has three grandchildren, Steven A Miller, Joshua Allen Pate, and Jeremy Pate Johnson. Jack was an avid bowler, and loved him some Tarheels. He was a longtime member of Neuse Baptist Church, and Jack loved as he was loved. If he could leave you readers with a message, it would be... For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
