Wilbur Ray Brantley

July 13, 1929 - October 26, 2024

 

Kinston- Wilbur Ray Brantley, 95, was received into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was born in Beaufort County, NC to the late Harvey Sherman Brantley, and Mary Shearin Brantley on July 13, 1929. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Small Brantley; brothers, Robert Brantley (Vonnie) and Bryan Brantley (Janice); and grandson, Michael Paul Heath.

Wilbur proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post 504. He later worked as a supervisor at DuPont for many years. With a strong faith, Wilbur was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.

Wilbur was an avid dancer, music-lover, bowler, carpenter, coffee-drinker, and beach-traveler with his family. Most importantly, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The family is blessed in knowing he is reunited with the love of his life, Christine Brantley.

Wilbur is survived by his children, Wilma B. Heath (Billy) of Vanceboro, and W. Ray Brantley, Jr. (Phuong Tran) of Raleigh, David Warren Brantley (Deena) of McKinney, Texas, and Sherman Wade Brantley (Bonnie) of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, William Curtis “Frank” Heath, III, Santanna B. Piner, Peyton Brantley, Alyssa and Alexa Brantley, Amber Grace Brantley, and Coyote Brantley (Riot); three step-grandchildren, Mason Still, Alexander Still, and Ashley Still; as well as great-grandchildren, Nash and Lauren Heath.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on November 1, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lynn Maxwell officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation from 10-11 a.m. A private interment will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Christian Church, 364 Vine Swamp Road, Kinston, NC 28504.
