Wilbur Earl Grady

Wilbur Earl Grady, 74, of Kinston passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Marie Grady; daughter, Wendy Marie Grady; parents, Wilbur Grady, Sr. and Vonnie Hawkins Grady; sister Wilma Hill; brothers, Earl Grady, John “JC” Grady, James Grady, and Vernon Grady; daughter in-law, Cristy Sauls Grady.

Wilbur was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended at the Kinston Ward, along with the Woodington Ward in his later years.  He loved the Lord and testified of the Gospel to everyone on his path of life. A son’s greatest fan on all of life’s stages.  He was also a lifelong fan of “Carolina”, the Eagles and Bob Seger (“The Man”). He was well-known for making sure you were warm in the winter, cool in the summer and that your food was preserved in your refrigerated boxes, no matter the time of day or night, and no matter your circumstance.  Wilbur Grady…Generous, Loving, and Caring.  He truly had a Heart of Gold.

Wilbur is survived by his wife Barbara Davis Grady; son, Tony Grady and wife Carol; grandchildren, Devin, Tyler and wife, Jeni and Lynn Marie; great-grandchild Adrian; stepsons, Chris Taylor and Jason Taylor; step-grandchildren, Christopher Taylor, Jason “JT” Taylor, Clayton Tyndall, Breanna Tyndall, Sarah Tyndall and David Tyndall; step-great-grandchildren, Christopher, Melody Belle, Rowan and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 11:15 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Kinston Ward, 3006 Cary Road Kinston, NC 28501 with Bishop Jeff Howard officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date. The family will be receiving friends at the home of his son, 2385 John Green Smith Road, Deep Run, NC.
