William “Billy” Carraway Jr., 72, of Kinston, passed away peacefully July 23, 2025, surrounded by family and friends at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, N.C.
He was born on December 12, 1952, to the late Minnie Mae and William Carraway Sr. Following his father’s passing, Billy was raised by his mother and stepfather, William “Bill” Joyner who also predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Carraway.
Billy was the owner and operator of BC Construction for over 15 years. He loved working with big machinery and getting his hands dirty. One of his best memories was driving in his beloved Kenworth. He was known for being an honest and hard-working man. He would give you the shirt off his back and never asked for anything in return. After a hard day’s work, he enjoyed spending time with his fur babies and playing games or browsing Facebook on his phone. If he was not at work or home, he could often be found at Western Sizzlin. He loved his family more than anyone knew. He often called friends to check in and gossip. Billy never met a stranger.
He is survived by his fiancé, Linda Cauley; son, William “Little Billy” Carraway; grandsons, Michael Carraway, Aaron Carraway and Trevor Carraway; sister, Sandra Jones; stepdaughters, Rose Andrews and Denise Rouse and fur babies, Diesel, Rose, Pearl and Lady.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Kinston with Joey Herring officiating.
