William Bailey “Bill” Simmons, 80, of Kinston, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamuel Thomas Simmons and Effie Bailey Simmons; son, Timothy Scott Simmons; granddaughter, Rianon Simmons; sisters, Barbara Ipock and Joyce Smith, and brothers, Ronnie Simmons, John Simmons, Richard Simmons, and Daniel Luther Simmons.
Bill was a lifelong member of Armenia Christian Church where he was a choir member, Deacon, Elder, Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and trustee. He loved his wife and always kept true to his vows to her keeping her well taken care of. He loved his job and loved to work. He graduated from Hardbarger College and then went on to work at Perry Management for 41 years before retiring. After retirement, Bill was happiest when operating his many pieces of equipment.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Davenport Simmons, of the home; sons, Tony William Simmons and wife, Tammy, and Steven Bailey Simmons and wife, Wendy; step-son, Michael Kevin Quinn of Raleigh; grandchildren, Brandon Simmons, Eric Simmons, Aubrey Simmons, Bailey Simmons, and Noel Simmons; five great-grandchildren; special caretaker and friend, Karin Barrow of Kinston, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other close family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Armenia Christian Church, 1817 US-70, Kinston, NC with Pastor John Brick officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
