William "Bill" Whitley

William Doyle “Bill” Whitley, Jr., known to many as “Big Daddy”, 66, of Kinston passed away Thursday, October 12 at his home.  He is preceded in death by his parents, William Doyle Whitley, Sr. and Geraldine Cunningham Whitley; son Stephen Whitley and sister, Patricia Carter.

Bill was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking, including Whole Hog Barbeque competitions.  He also enjoyed listening to Beach, Boogie and Blues, and was always traveling the roads and serving the local community.

Bill is survived by daughter, Amy Bell and husband, Kevin; son, Tyler Whitley and wife, Lindsey; grandchildren, Fisher Whitley, Ridge Hinson, Cody Whitley and Jacob Jones; brother, Dexter Whitley and wife, Susan; nieces, Caroline Murphrey and husband, Chris and Alison Rose and husband, Austin and many special friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 at 7:00 PM at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with visitation to follow.
