William "Bill" Lee Waters

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Waters, who left us on July 21st, 2026, at the age of 87. A man who was truly one of a kind, Bill was built out of pure grit, sharp intelligence, and an unstoppable stubborn streak, serving as a pillar of strength and loyalty to all who knew him.

A proud military veteran, Bill carried a lifelong sense of duty, service, and quiet strength. This same work ethic carried into his civilian life, where he dedicated over 40 years of hard work to the Noland Company. He was sharp as a tack and remarkably knowledgeable—if there was something worth knowing, Bill knew it, and if you needed a problem solved, he was always the one to ask.

Those who knew Bill were familiar with his unapologetic honesty and quick wit. He never met an opinion he was afraid to share, nor was he ever afraid to tell you exactly what he thought. Whether keeping a lively conversation going, holding his ground in a good argument, or cracking a quick joke, Bill’s humor kept everyone on their toes.

Behind his tough exterior and famous stubbornness was a heart far bigger than he ever gave himself credit for. He loved his family fiercely, serving as a steadfast protector and loyal friend for life. Bill’s ideal world was simple and genuine: classic country music playing, NASCAR on Sundays, a glass of whiskey in hand, and his loved ones close by.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Susie, with whom he shared 56 beautiful years of marriage; his sons, Kevin (wife Mary) and Clifton (wife Amanda); and his cherished grandchildren, Abby, Trevor, Taylin, and Anna, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Susie's caregiver, Sarah, and neighbor, Chuck, for always being there for Bill; both became like family to him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Susie, or to Bill's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Per Bill’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be announced for a future date.

While the world will undoubtedly feel a lot quieter without his unfiltered commentary, sharp wisdom, and playful spirit, Bill leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, love, and cherished memories that will bring laughter for years to come.

Rest easy, Bill. You will be missed beyond measure.
